Through the Social Impact Exchange GPN provides opportunities for major foundations to take leading roles in expansions by serving on working groups in specific issues and participating in funder collaborative that review and select effective nonprofits for funding  to scale up, including their own grantees. Major foundations are able to:

• Leverage collaborative capital from other sources to fund grantees
• Create sustained local support for grantee expansion sites
• Reduce their own financial exposure
• Implement effective exit strategies
